I've got quotes for #Solar and #Battery from 3 major UK providers (#Octopus, #Wickes, #EDF). They're all in similar ballparks, but #EDF is edging ahead partly because they claim they can fit more panels on my roof, which means more potential to generate. The cost of panels is negligible compared to the cost of scaffolding and labour, so the more the merrier!

Following a strong inclusivity announcement from Wickes CEO there was a predictable meltdown among bigots. Problem is there might not be any alternatives for them.

Apropos of nothing, #Wickes are very useful for DIY-ers needing sheet materials like plasterboard, plywood or OSB. Unlike the other #DIY stores they'll deliver single 2400 x 1200 sheets for a very reasonable £7 delivery fee. Order the fixings etc at the same time and you won't even need to leave the house.

Today has been particularly fun because of their reporting Fraser Longden, chief operating officer of Wickes stating that;

“I don't think I'm ever going to change some of the bigots out there's minds, I'm never going to win that argument with them, so we were doing it to show support to the community.”

There's been the predictable responses of "I won't be shopping there again'' etc. The funniest of those are the ones declaring that they will shop at B&Q in future, obviously unaware of the inclusivity policy of the B&Q owners, Kingfisher. I have of course been making them aware of this. None have shown any appreciation.

There's been a lot lately about companies either miserably backing down and removing Pride stuff, or merely having the empty Love Is Probably Good, Yeah platitudes.

And I remembered this from last year:

Anyway I just bought a storage thing for the garden, and I specifically bought it from Wickes because of this, even though it wasn't the cheapest (still a very reasonable price, mind you, Wickes aren't ripping anyone off). It's not often a company properly gets it right and I am happy to back them.
