So, I guess how I cope is by teaching my son to not be like those men, including his grandfather.

I cope by withdrawing. I date so rarely now that I don’t even know if I remember how to do it.

I cope by telling my story to whoever will listen in the hope that it helps them see what that kind of behaviour does to young women and girls.

All I’ve ever wanted, even at 13, is to be loved and to have someone want to spend time with me. When the only way you feel you can get that is through using your body, it leads to a lot of very unhealthy ideas around self image and self worth.

Try to be kind to yourself and others, and see the whole person. Because all of you deserves to be loved, not just your body, and that goes for every person of the planet.
