🔥 Коли температура ядра досягне близько 100 мільйонів градусів, розпочнеться горіння гелію з утворенням вуглецю та кисню. Цей етап буде нестабільним: Сонце почне пульсувати та втрачати свої зовнішні оболонки під дією потужних зоряних вітрів.
🌌 Згодом скинутий газ утворить планетарну туманність — одну з найкрасивіших космічних структур. Протягом десятків тисяч років вона світитиметься завдяки випромінюванню гарячого ядра, а потім поступово розчиниться в міжзоряному просторі, збагативши його елементами, з яких колись сформуються нові зорі та планети.

New evidence that some #supernovae may be a “double detonation”
A hypothesis that doesn't require as much mass: a relatively small explosion on a #whitedwarf's surface can compress the interior enough to restart fusion in #stars that haven't yet reached a critical mass. The Wikipedia article of the day for the 2025-06-24 was White Dwarf. It got me wondering.
Is it possible to restart them? I gather that a sudden injection of mass would likely cause a Bigga Badda Boom, but what if there was a way to slowly (and evenly) add enough hydrogen to get it to fuse again?
Curious.
