Excerpt: "A U.S. Postal Service official has alleged that the agency is moving forward with a 'secretive, rushed' effort to carry out President Trump’s order exerting federal control over mail voting, despite a court order blocking those plans.

"The official filed a whistle-blower report, published on Tuesday morning by the office of Senator Richard Blumenthal, Democrat of Connecticut, asserting that the 'risky and haphazard' implementation of Mr. Trump’s order could lead to a 'catastrophic failure' in the mail ballot system ahead of this year’s #MidtermElections. The report said that the agency had planned to complete the new digital system overseeing mail ballots by Sept. 1.

" 'Potentially millions of American voters may not receive their mail-in ballot this election cycle in a timely manner, or at all,' the official said in the report, which was prepared with the assistance of #WhistleblowerAid, a nonprofit group that represents people seeking to expose potential lawbreaking.

Speaking to reporters by phone on Monday, Mr. Blumenthal said of the report that 'the main takeaway for me is that the Postal Service has designed a system to disenfranchise millions of Americans. One-third of all Americans cast their ballots by mail, and the #USPS puts all of their votes at risk.'

Libraries hold a special place in my heart, for reasons both intellectual and sentimental.

Librarians are guardians of knowledge, champions of freedom, and friends of the people. They are community members, dedicated to helping connect poor people with relevant information, so they can improve their minds, educate themselves, and access job resources.

After I became a #whistleblower in 2023, and was made #homeless , this notion was challenged.

I had applied to be a board member of the libraries in Hawai’i after attending their meetings, and saw some corruption there.

Their former Director of Membership, Bobby Gebbia, lied in court, before the judge and cameras, saying I was a board member, though I was not granted a membership.

In Hawai’i, librarians appear to be part of the occupying forces, whitewashing colonialism, insidiously taking over and erasing the true history of Hawai’i, which I heard from talking to local old timers.

250 years ago, Hawai’i had not heard of Jesus, and had its own deities, ( Goddess Pele, the creator, Kaneloa, etc. )
Then Captain James Cook invaded, and 90% of the natives were wiped out.

Then Samson Dole attacked with soldiers, threw out the natives, turned their land into plantations, and turned the natives into day laborers on the plantation, on their own land.

Contrary to popular belief, Hawai’i is not a part of the USA, but a belligerently occupied territory,

1887-1897: Hawaiʻi Rebelled against the USA.

Hawaiʻian people did not choose to be part of the USA.
King David Kalākaua was forced to sign what is called the "Bayonet Constitution". Queen Liliuokalani asserted that Kalākaua's life was threatened: "He signed that constitution under absolute compulsion."

Now Hawai’i is full of churches, their own gods are vanishing from memory, thanks to the “librarians”. There’s poverty, a drug epidemic, and seething discontent on the streets. Hawai’ian people are heavily overpoliced, thrown into jail without cause, and denied #justice in the #courts of the occupiers ( #USA ).

All this is hidden from the casual tourist, content to visit a golf course on the sacred land, that has been bulldozed, and be served drinks by little brown people ( usually from the Marshall Islands, Hawai’i locals have mostly left for minimum wage jobs in mainland America ).

Billionaires, like Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos, and Oprah Winfrey, “own” huge chunks of the land.

Chinese billionaire, Eva Liu, has controlled the Punalu’u Black Sand beach, with a sweetheart deal ( $1 ), and is proposing erasing this natural landmark, spawning site of the endangered Saddleback Turtles, and building resorts there, in the name of “development”.

In 2022, the Hawai’ian people had a setback in court.

I thought that I would be safe from persecution, once I got to Japan. This turned out to be wrong.

I ran out of the funds I came here with, in February 2026, and have been #homeless here since.

I turned to every refugee assistance I could find: #JAR, #AAR, #RHQ, #FRESC, #UNHCR , the #Shinagawa City Ward Office. They all denied me assistance.

Second Harvest gave me 5 food packages, over two months, each of which lasts 2-3 days.

The #Takanawa #Catholic #Church was feeding me 1 meal a day, though now they have stopped even that.

When I reported to Mr. Takaii, a priest at #Meguro Catholic Church, that I had been abused by a Catholic Charity in #Kona , #Hawaii ( documented in the link above ), he suddenly told me he did not speak any English, though we had met a few times, and had several conversations, and he speaks English fluently.

The #corruption at the heart of the Catholic church and Christianity could not be more profound.

The #Pope has condemned #war and called for #peace , and scored cheap #poltical points against #Trump , though he has not called on all #Catholics to resign from the military, and stop participating in war. His apologia are crocodile tears.

I am presently hungry, homeless, and need of medical care.

The Japanese #Immigration Bureau keep asking me why I have "overstayed my visa". I keep responding that while my asylum application is pending, I am not overstaying in Japan. Japan is in violation of #International #Law ( 1951 & 1967 convention on the treatment of #refugees ). They can easily extend my visa, so I can get medical care and food. I have reported to them several times that I am in pain, and need food. They keep on harassing me.

It seems to me that the #JapanPM has decided to make same mistake that Japan made in #WW2 - siding with #corruption

Porting SafeText and analyzing digital content with Apache Tika

Last year I wrote about pitfalls in modern journalism, especially with regards to receiving documents and information from whistleblowers without offering them adequate protection.

The tl;dr is that you, as a whistleblower, need to protect yourself; and you, as an editor or journalist, need to protect your whistleblowers.

Steganographic fingerprints might be one method adopted to detect someone leaking information. Steganographic characters replace common textual characters with unusual but hard to detect variants, e.g. they look the same to the human eye, or are actually invisible. Using a tool called SafeText by David Jacobson we can identify these hidden fingerprints in the content that you share.

I firmly believe we can find clues about what is important to preserve, or learn to preserve, when we analyse the content of the digital record and not just the (file) format of the digital record.

A file can contain many different features and these are all challenges to their future interpretation, and thus preservation.

I wanted to use SafeText in some of my other non-Python tooling and so I decided to port the code to Golang as a composable module and binary.

By coincidence at the time I started writing this I had also just written about revisiting tikalinkextract and so I thought I would write this small explanation about how you might combine Tika and SafeText to perform some content analysis of your own.

Who knows, maybe we will find a conspiracy. Maybe we’ll find secret codes in our own digital records. Maybe we’ll learn something new about our records…

Studien zeigen, dass #Hassrede durch Klarnamenpflicht nur marginal reduziert wird, da Täter schnell Ausweichstrategien finden.

#Datenlecks & Angriffe
#Südkorea führte 2007 eine Klarnamenpflicht ein, musste sie aber 2012 nach massiven Datenschutzverstößen wieder abschaffen. Hacker stahlen die Daten von 35 Millionen Nutzern (70% der Bevölkerung), was zu Identitätsdiebstahl und Missbrauch führte. Das Verfassungsgericht erklärte die Pflicht für verfassungswidrig, da sie die Meinungsfreiheit einschränkt.

Überwachungsrisiko & Missbrauch durch Behörden/Unternehmen
Unternehmen wie #Palantir könnten #Klarnamendaten für #Massenüberwachung nutzen. Palantir wird bereits von deutschen Polizeibehörden eingesetzt, obwohl Datenschützer vor dem Missbrauch warnen. Die Software ermöglicht die Verknüpfung von Datenbanken und könnte für politische #Repression genutzt werden.

Einschüchterung & Chilling Effect
Eine Pflicht führt dazu, dass sich Menschen aus Angst vor Konsequenzen (z.B. berufliche Nachteile, soziale Ausgrenzung) nicht mehr frei äußern. Besonders betroffen sind marginalisierte Gruppen, #Whistleblower und politische #Aktivisten sowie eine Vielzahl an Personen die teilweise als Autisten deklariert werden können oder Journalisten, aber auch andere.

Kein wissenschaftlicher Beleg für weniger Hass
Studien zeigen, dass anonyme Nutzer oft weniger aggressiv kommunizieren als solche, die mit Klarnamen auftreten. Die Annahme, dass Klarnamen den Diskurs „zivilisieren“, ist nicht belegt. In Südkorea änderte sich das Verhalten von Hassrednern kaum.

Verstoß gegen Grundrechte & EU-Recht
Die Klarnamenpflicht widerspricht dem Recht auf informationelle Selbstbestimmung und eventuell auch gegen EU-Datenschutzrecht (#DSGVO). Das Unabhängige Datenschutzzentrum Saarland betont, dass eine solche Pflicht mit höherrangigem Unionsrecht kollidiert.

September 22, 2025: "#MindFreedomInternational (#MFI) is pleased to report that, in response to our previous Shield Alert update, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital has allowed And Steiner to see a covering provider of their choice and assured that And’s requests are being taken seriously. However, MFI remains concerned about And’s safety and well-being despite these concessions.
