This evening's viewing distraction: going old school with Where Eagles Dare. Haven't watched this in years, but cropped up on BBC iPlayer, so an evening with Richard Burton, Clint Eastwood and not forgetting an appearance by Hammer Queen, Ingrid Pitt (who I once had the pleasure of hosting for a book launch) too.

The other day I watched "#WhereEaglesDare" (1968) for the first time. Every time Clint Eastwood was on screen I heard #SuzyIzzard in my mind explaining why Steve McQueen is in The Great Escape: "the American who is dropped into British films in order to make them sell."

And through that lens the movie is actually pretty meta about the whole thing, constantly asking why the American is there etc.

Anyway it's a seriously great Spy movie. 10/10. Take a drink whenever #ClintEastwood kills a Nazi.
