Thrilled to join the WHEP spec as an editor! Helping make WebRTC simpler with HTTP originated media sessions. Excited to push Server Sent Offers for v1. Join the conversation at IETF 123!

Finally found some time to make my #WHEP client send an offer instead of waiting for one: may be helpful to others too, especially if GStreamer's whepsrc isn't an option yet (it isn't available on Fedora yet, for instance)

Small teaser of the #WHIP and #WHEP presentation I'll be making in a few hours at #TADSummit... if you want to see the rest, you'll have to tune in! 😅 See you at about 2pm Paris time!

October will be a busy but fun month for me: join me in Krakow for RTC.on (https://rtcon.live/), where I'll talk about #BWE (Bandwidth Estimation) and how I'm adding it to #Janus, and in Paris for TADSummit (https://tadsummit.com/2023/) where I'll talk about #WHIP, #WHEP and #WebRTC broadcasting!

@chiefgyk3d Standardized WebRTC-based streaming tools are just around the corner. #Twitch already has undocumented support for WHIP-ingestion and #OBS will have #WebRTC support through #WHIP in the next release. #WHEP for egress to viewers is what is still needing work in the ecosystem, but I see #selfhosted ultra low-latency streams being feasible in the near future.

Since I had to do quite some work on #Janus due to the many changes in the new #WHEP draft, I thought I'd write a new blog post to summarize what's new in the spec, and what we did as a result. If you don't know much about #WHIP, #WHEP, or #WebRTC broadcasting, hopefully the blog post will help shed some light on that too.
Hope you'll enjoy it, boosts welcome!

Time for @danjenkins to do his magic, and talk about #webrtc for broadcasting purposes using #WHIP and #WHEP (and #WHOA 😁) #openmedia #fosdem #fosdem23

Shameless plug - I'll be on Cloudflare TV later ( 4.30 - 5.00 UTC) https://cloudflare.tv/event/PZ5wXGv2 talking about WebRTC

That presentation only covered #WHIP, but provided some context on how to handle distribution of media streams on a larger scale via #webrtc as well. #WHEP is a more recent proposal, that I recently covered in a blog post:
https://www.meetecho.com/blog/whip-whep/For both protocols there are open source implementations (including some of my own), so if you're interested in the possibilities there's plenty of ways to play with them!

I haven't seen any #webrtc post so far, so I thought I'd contribute one myself, since it's what I work on everyday.
These are exciting times for this technology, especially if you're interested in large scale #broadcasting, as the IETF is actively working on standardizing protocols for that, and will have a meeting later this week:
#WHIP → ingestion (replaces RTMP)
#WHEP → distribution (replaces HLS/Dash)If you want to learn more, I made a presentation at #fosdem2022:
