In 2013, people assumed my sister’s life at 49 was over. @TeresaHeartchild fought back. 25,000 people signed her petition on #WDSD. Her supporters sent a letter to the Minister of Health. And finally, the govt apologized.
Now Teresa is free. But thousands of others are being put into nursing homes.

I dag har jeg taget et umage par sokker på!
Det gør jeg for at markere Verdens Down Syndrom-dag og for at vise, at forskellighed er noget, vi skal fejre – ikke skjule. De farverige sokker er et symbol på, at vi alle er unikke, men alligevel hører sammen.

Verden bliver et bedre sted, når vi giver plads til alle – også dem, der ikke passer ind i normen.
