I couldn't wait until the weekend. It took probably no more than 30 minutes to actually assemble the watch. No soldering, just clicking a few bits into place.

Hm, I'd really like a Watchy by SQFMI, but it appears to be sold out. I thought about ordering PCBs and soldering my own, but I noticed some of the components are obsolete or on backorder.
Should I update the PCB and have my own made, or try pre-ordering on Crowd Supply and wait? 🤔

It was defnly a Tintin and Snowy vibe kind of day for the ride today.
I wish that I could bring Ruffers on the motorcycle rides with me… maybe someday when he gets a bit older and some of the rascalliness wears off a bit -
I suspect one of the greatest barriers to entry for things like Arduino and microprocessor related projects is the fact that you have to come to the table with a certain level of tenacity, stubbornness, and a willingness to tinker even when you meet failure after failure. I picked up a #Watchy from #SQFMI (in part to slake my thirst for a Beepberry which are all sold out), and as detailed as the instructions are, many of them seem to be out of date. I attempted to get it set up in Arduino IDE, and get one of the sample sketches uploaded to the watch, and it failed. And failed in a way that Google is not being helpful.
On the flip side of this, there is this theory that the latest generations of folks didn't have the perspective of this futile yelling in the void over technology that was pieced together from bubble gum and duct tape that most of geek GenX experienced, but these projects are a great way to build it. Mostly by flattening your forehead on your desk. -
I'm working on a motorcycle themed multi-watchface for my Watchy and I'm having a really hard time putting this one down... prolly end up being one of those never really finished projects. I would really love to add feature where it can show turn-by-turn navigation from OpenStreetMap but I'm not sure I'll ever have the skills to get that far

This Watchy project has turned out to be a totally refreshing creative outlet for me. I’m loving the form factor and constraints imposed by the black & white 200x200 screen.

I think I’m gonna make this Watchy a dedicated handlebar clock. I’m digging the fit test. Will be cool to have it cycle thru various screens.

My Watchy open source hardware watch thing arrived and uh it was pretty distracting today. Kinda intriguing. I got this Tetris themed watch face loaded on it and now I really want to have an actual old school Tetris game watch. Instead this thing is just an aesthetic e-ink watch face with big chunky buttons that don’t do much besides setting the time, it’s a little bittersweet
