I'm currently enjoying John Lynch's biography of Simón Bolívar, even though I am being continually reminded of my ignorance of Latin American history.
I'd like to read more about both colorful individuals, such as Manuela Sáenz and José Boves, and the larger social forces at work.
Inevitably, as someone who lives in the USA, I will be spending some time contrasting and comparing this period of Latin American history with the revolutionary and early national era of the USA.
Note to self: put Gabriel Garcia Marquez -- The General in His Labyrinth on the TBR list.
