Every good fishing camp has a good camp dog. I think it's a law.
Their jobs include greeting boats when tieing up, checking out the catch, bear alarm, jumping in the water for no reason, going cabin to cabin to look in the windows to see if anyone is there, begging for something to eat if someone is inside, and pushing in the door and sleeping in the cabin if they feel like it.

I've tried ice fishing a few times and it just didn't work for me. Perhaps sitting in one spot waiting for the fish to come to me instead of me moving to find them was the biggest issue.

The most surprising and weirdest fish I've caught was a spotted gar. This guy was about 30" long. I fooled him a plastic worm on a drop shot rig.They are not common in my area.

Years ago we were jigging for walleye in about 25' of water. My son had a tap, set the hook and reeled in. Then the rod doubled over and he had a real fight.
A 12" walleye was on the jig with a 34" northern biting the walleye. I netted both fish. The walleye did not survive and the northern was released.

I can't believe this.
Near Chippawa Falls, Wi without warning the transmission went out on the truck. We had the truck and boat towed to a Chevy dealer. I will get an official diagnosis tomorrow about the transmission, but they know whatever the problem is, they can't complete the repair until at least late Monday.
My daughter in law is now en route from northern Illinois to pick us up. No big trip to Canada this year.
