Seeing a lot of talk this morning about #JoeKent resigning from his post in the Trump admin.
As someone who lives in #WA3 where he ran for house rep in 2022 and 2024, I'm honestly not buying it.
I wouldn't be surprised if we learn later that the step down now, is a strategic plan to appear more "moderate" and buy MAGA the district in the next election.
He lost with at 50.4/49.6 in 2022, and slid down to 47.9% of the vote in 2024.

I sent a message to my representative letting them know I was furious that while ICE was murdering unarmed people in the streets she was voting to give them more money. I never expected her to vote for liberal policies, but I had hoped she wouldn’t compromise with fascists to trample on the constitution.

Trump-endorsed WA-03 Congressional District candidate Joe Kent finally conceded today following a recount, stating “our campaign is not at a sad end but a strong beginning.”
Kent has already announced his candidacy for 2024.

Another note on the #joekent talk at the Simi Bird for governor event last night.
He changed his mind about voting late.
During the campaign, he has advised his voters to vote late, based on seriously warped disinformation about how ballots were processed. Now it seems like he is at least partially blaming that thinking on his loss.

Joe Kent did a lot of things last night at a Simi Bird for governor event:
* He announced he's running again in 2024
* He hinted he was going to sue over the signature verification system
* He also did some bad analysis on voter turnout. He said his voters just did not turn out, especially in Clark County.

Some important context for the Kent recount request
1. Despite mentioning signature verification in his comms about the recount, this process with have zero to do with that step of ballot processing
2. A machine recount is basically rerunning the initial machine tabulation OR verification of the logic and accuracy test, which all the counties passed weeks ago
3. The $42k deposit is just a deposit. He's going to have to pay the entire amount, which will be way more

Precincts in Clark County that went for Joe Kent had higher turnout, which is totally not what I expected
So Marie Gluesenkamp Perez was able to win district-wide despite turnout headwinds in her core county
