I went to put new tires on the #W211 Mercedes E350 wagon. With the wheel off, I could see that the brake pads were worn unevenly because the calipers were too rusty to slide correctly. So I decided to replace all that, and I already had new rotors that I hadn't felt like installing the last time I did the pads. Now this is a good time to replace the halfshafts, which have had torn boots for a long time now. And while that's all apart, I might as well install Bilstein shocks to match the rear.

@SamTheGeek @Nir_Kahn Mine aren’t early noughties, but the models were on their last year of production:
1️⃣ #W203 #C-Class 2006. Discontinued that year. 149,000 miles from new.
2️⃣ #W211 #E-Class 2007. Discontinued that year. 89,000 miles from new. Both drive and operate like new and are inexpensive to maintain.
Won’t mention rust, since living in SoCal, with very low humidity, nothing rusts here. It wouldn’t be a fair assessment.
