Beschadigde Peregrine maanlander schakelt zijn ladingen in
De nieuwste update van Astrobotic is alles bij elkaar genomen optimistisch. Mogelijk is niet alles verloren voor de Peregrine maanlander van het bedrijf.

Now the question will be: how competitive can ULA actually be? Articles state that ULA has * 6 * launches planned in 2024.
Meanwhile SpaceX will launch over 100.. possibly 144.
And ULA the company is going through some challenges. Read Eric Berger’s excellent profile of ULA over at ArsTechnica: https://arstechnica.com/space/2024/01/with-vulcans-liftoff-imminent-united-launch-alliance-flies-into-uncertain-future/
Will Boeing and Lockheed successfully sell the company? What does its future hold?

🚀 SUCCESS! 🚀
The first flight of ULA’s Vulcan Centaur lifted off early this morning, launching the first US private moon lander and a whole bunch of scientific experiments… and memorials. More info:

This was incredibly important for ULA as a company. And it’s important for us all to have more launch providers.
Congrats to all involved on this successful launch!

And #SpaceX has been doing *amazing* work this past year... launching ** 98 ** rockets in 2023. More than any company has launched in a year! 🎉
While ULA launched... * 3 * rockets! 🤯
But as awesome as SpaceX's work is, it would be great for resilience to have competing companies that can *consistently* launch.
So I'm hoping for a successful launch! 🚀
But.. I'll be asleep at 2:18am ET 😀
So I'll look forward to learning the result in the morning! -
Note that if ULA is NOT able to launch in 5 hours, they do have backup time slots available January 9, 10, and 11, but the launch windows are MUCH smaller.
Note also that ULA has been developing the Vulcan Centaur rocket since... *2014*.
And its first launch was supposed to be in 2019... then later... and later.. and later... and now... tonight!

Meanwhile, #SpaceX has been doing their amazing work!

In about 5 hours at 07:18 UTC (2:18am ET, where I live), an extremely important rocket launch will hopefully happen.
United Launch Alliance (ULA) is planning to launch their new #VulcanCentaur rocket on its first mission. You can learn more and watch at: https://www.space.com/vulcan-centaur-launch-peregrine-moon-lander-webcast
Back in November, I wrote about how right now we are so dependent on SpaceX for launches, and how it would be great to have competition:
We'll see what happens! 🚀
