Only #SpaceX’s #Falcon9 and #FalconHeavy, and #ULA’s #Vulcan rocket are certified for Lane 2 missions. There are more launch companies qualified for Lane 1 contracts.

In April, Space Systems Command said it had identified 25 additional Lane 2 missions on top of the 54 included in the original contract just one year before. Now, the #SpaceForce is tripling 📈 the maximum value for the Lane 1 contract.

Rebuilding the company’s pad, or finishing a new one, will likely take at least a year, even with a major effort by #BlueOrigin.

#SpaceX’s #FalconHeavy and #ULA’s #Vulcan vehicles both likely have the lift capacity to push #Mark1 to the Moon 🌙.

It’s now all but certain that a #BlueMoon lander will not be ready for a mission within the next 18 months. #NASA will need to decide whether to wait on Blue Origin or press ahead solely with a #Starship mission

An investigation into the first incident found a manufacturing defect was responsible for the loss of the booster’s exhaust nozzle shortly after liftoff. Officials have not announced the results of the probe into the second booster failure, but it appeared to be similar to the first incident

  30. Vulcan Rocket Reaches Space Despite Booster Problem

The ULA Vulcan rocket has successfully reached space carrying important U.S. Space Force items. However, there was a problem with one of the rocket's boosters that caused sparks. The company is now studying why this happened to make sure it does not happen again.

  31. For the second time, incredibly lucky that the rocket was able to complete its mission despite a solid rocket motor failure. Absolute respect for the adaptability and responsiveness of the rocket's guidance and control technology. But these boosters... in their current form, are truly dangerously unreliable.
