My hypothesis is that deleting accounts that have been inactive for over 3+ years could reduce our server expenses by removing data we don't really need to continue subsidizing.

Really, can anyone reasonably expect a community supported instance continue to pay for data of accounts that have been completely inactive for so long?

At the same time as we're vetting so many bot-agents swamping the Fediverse at large, we are also getting our own share of spam-applications.

We've only approved one new account in months. And to be honest, that one account is kinda brilliant and totally worth the risk we took with approving.

We're also working on how to reduce our server expenses while support for it is dropping

I'm not sure how to solve this, but I'm working on more financial sustainability.

I myself am blocking them. I just reported one, after realizing their server admins should know about it.

I'm starting to experiment with them.

First attempt was to build a #SciArt collection. Honestly, it's not easy to build, for many reasons.

* Most of the SciaArt-ists I knew from when twitter was viable? Some of them tried Mastodon, and then most of them gave up.

* Many have their privacy set to not allow being added to Collections here.
