  1. The #hepatitis C #virus, which is spread through contact w/infected blood & can lead to #deadly liver #cancer, is notoriously hard to identify. But if anyone could understand what was #happening in FL, it would be the Division of #ViralHepatitis in the #CDC's HQ.
    Using samples from the lab's collection of nearly 1M frozen specimens, scientists helped make the initial discovery of the #HepatitisC virus in the 1980s. In 2020, that #research was awarded the #NobelPrize in #Medicine.

A road map to #ViralHepatitis elimination in BC by 2030 | #BCMJ bcmj.org/bc-centre-disease-con “To reduce the impact of viral hepatitis, the Canadian government, in alignment with global efforts ..aims to eliminate both #hepatitis viruses as a #PublicHealth threat by 2030. To support this goal, the Public Health Agency of Canada set targets for the proportion of people living with chronic #HBV or #HCV infection in Canada to be diagnosed and treated by 2025 and 2030.”
