  5. After a few months taking it easy, for various reasons, this month I'm going to try to get back into things properly as I've got a few #retroComputing project's to get back into.

Hopefully they will get my mind back into doing stuff.

So this one is from last year, and I'll try to get the backend working so anyone with a Minitel or Prestel terminal can use it with live Train Departure Boards, dialup or telnet

  9. Telstar beckons! I can't believe this works. I'm having to use a phone (wired in parallel) to dial, but otherwise it's working pretty well.
Connection is via an old BeThere Speedtouch 780WL "BeBox", chained to a TPLink Archer C7 running OpenWRT. The BeBox runs as a SIP ATA.

  11. Didn't have a 6504 in stock, so I made an adapter to plug a 6502 into the socket on the #Tandata #Viewdata terminal. Sadly it still doesn't work :(

  13. today I saw a text editor from the 1980s where they were so pleased with their wordwrap feature that whenever it was enabled, a flashing green "WR[a]P" appeared in the top right of the terminal where the time would normally be

  15. Today I got ... a Tandata TD1100 #Viewdata/#Prestel terminal!
I wonder if TELSTAR is still online? Might be nice to set up the Viewdata softmodem (if I can build it for FreePBX) and set up a few BBS extensions.

  17. Of all the random things I found (whilst looking for #'BBC #Micro emulators) was a #Teletext #viewdata editor. Hardly sure how to work it nowadays, and realised how difficult it is to make the block graphics...

(is there a modern version of this you could maybe run on a RPI and use modern graphics, but have the same carousel or remote control thing for the displays?)
