After an interesting discussion on here regarding dependencies, I wanted to post the Visual Effects Society's VFX Reference Platform. #VES created this reference platform a few years ago to further #Linux distro compatibility of Visual Effects ( #VFX) apps running on some form of #RHEL - it used to be #CentOS until IBM/Red Hat changed its licensing. In any case, perhaps the #VFXReferencePlatform is something all Linux app devs can make use of or expand upon moving forward

  3. @folken exactly, I think #RedHat tries too hard to be the next Microsoft and transition to services. Personally I would gravitate towards #ubuntu and a service contract with #canonical, at least they announced a #blender3d support product a while back. But I did never hear anything about their performance in that space. The #VSE seems to recommend Redhat, Rocky and Alma for studios making a compiler update. 🤷‍♂️
