  1. Hmm, who is hiking in this weather?!?!

  2. Three calls at once for people with various medical maladies (illness, illness, difficulty breathing). Another snake call! The snakes calls are hopping tonight. #VenturaCounty #scanner

  3. Another snake call! Interesting to have them out this late. (usually not near houses/people at night, unless it's REALLY hot... they like making their way to cool toilet bowls, lol... really. Have heard about MANY of those, though usually at parks... though also a church, too.) #scanner #VenturaCounty

  4. "Wall time" in Ventura County is now over 1 hour. That's the amount of time ambulances are having to wait at the emergency room because beds are not open. #heatwave #CAwx #VenturaCounty

  5. LOL two snake calls at the same time at a condo complex... apparently they're tired of the heat, too, probably looking for the pool. #scanner #VenturaCounty #heatwave #CAwx

Was still 82F at 1am, now down to 79.2F (but 55% humidity) at almost 3am. Air conditioning has been running constantly. Not sure how the folks without A/C are handling this heatwave, aside from self basting in their homes.

  21. NWS Los Angeles (9/9/26)

"The next two days (Today and Thu) will feature very dangerous and unusual heat. High pressure over AZ will bring 596 dam hgts to Srn CA today and 595 dam hgts Thu. SFC high pressure to the NE will bring 2-3 mb of offshore flow this morning both from the N and E. This one two punch will bring 3 to 6 locally 8 degrees of warming to areas south of Pt Conception and a whopping 10 to 15 degrees north. This will lead to max temps of mid to upper 80s at the beaches, 90s across the rest of the csts and 100 to 108 degree temps for the vlys. The big kicker for this two day event will be the humidity which will be much higher than normal due to the remnants of Hurricane Marine and the much warmer than normal sea sfc temps. This extra humidity will make the temps feel much worse and will lessen the bodies cooling abilities. This humidity as well as the strong inversion will also lead to much warmer than normal overnight lows which will make heat recovery difficult for people without Air Conditioning.

Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect today and Thursday. The added
humidity really make this heat event much more dangerous than previous ones. All residents should limit your outdoor activities during the afternoon, seek air conditioned spaces, and take lots of breaks."

  37. LA Conchita

    LA CONCHITA HAZARD ADVISORY

An Advisory has been issued to the Community of La Conchita Due to ongoing rainfall and risk of landslides.

Cumulative rainfall totals observed near La Conchita over the past 14 days now exceed 7 inches. This amount is similar to the rainfall totals recorded before past landslides. Current rainfall and geological conditions resemble those that contributed to the significant damage in 1995 and 2005. As a result, the threat of landslides and/or debris flows near homes is high. Rapidly changing geological conditions are unpredictable and may pose a serious risk to people in the immediate area. Residents are strongly encouraged to seek shelter elsewhere.

Due to the complex nature of the geologic hazards at La Conchita, local public safety personnel cannot reliably predict when a hillside failure may occur. Despite preparation and monitoring efforts, evacuation alerts may arrive too late. Residents should pay close attention to weather forecasts, rainfall rates, and any warning signs of imminent slope failure.

For more information on the La Conchita area or to track rainfall totals, click HERE.

The Community of La Conchita has been deemed a geologic hazard area by the County of Ventura. County officials advise against entry into the area under any circumstance.

  38. "LA CONCHITA COMMUNITY

An advisory will be issued to the community of La Conchita, effective Tuesday, December 23rd at 6:00 pm through Wednesday, December 24th at 6:00 pm due to significant anticipated rainfall totals. In November, rainfall totals reached 8 inches within a two-week period, which is historically associated with landslides and/or debris flows.
