NWS Los Angeles (9/9/26)
"The next two days (Today and Thu) will feature very dangerous and unusual heat. High pressure over AZ will bring 596 dam hgts to Srn CA today and 595 dam hgts Thu. SFC high pressure to the NE will bring 2-3 mb of offshore flow this morning both from the N and E. This one two punch will bring 3 to 6 locally 8 degrees of warming to areas south of Pt Conception and a whopping 10 to 15 degrees north. This will lead to max temps of mid to upper 80s at the beaches, 90s across the rest of the csts and 100 to 108 degree temps for the vlys. The big kicker for this two day event will be the humidity which will be much higher than normal due to the remnants of Hurricane Marine and the much warmer than normal sea sfc temps. This extra humidity will make the temps feel much worse and will lessen the bodies cooling abilities. This humidity as well as the strong inversion will also lead to much warmer than normal overnight lows which will make heat recovery difficult for people without Air Conditioning.
Extreme Heat Warnings are in effect today and Thursday. The added
humidity really make this heat event much more dangerous than previous ones. All residents should limit your outdoor activities during the afternoon, seek air conditioned spaces, and take lots of breaks."#heatwave #CAwx #LosAngeles #climateemergency #VenturaCounty #SantaBarbaraCounty

NWS Los Angeles: The main weather story for the next three days will be the heat and humidity....The combination of hotter than normal temps and much higher than normal humidities has prompted the issuance of heat advisories for the Los Angeles County beaches and coastal valleys, and the Santa Monica Mountains today through Thursday. On Wednesday additional Heat Advisories go into effect for the Ventura County coasts and
valleys, the Santa Clarita Valley, and all of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties and are valid through Thursday evening....The Central Coast will not be immune from this event as offshore flow on Wednesday will drive some temperatures all the way to 100
to 102 degrees and most areas will end up 20 degrees or more above normal." -

The CHP Ventura Office issued the following report and pictures concerning a vehicle crash response that began at 11:42am off the 33 Highway in Ventura Sunday morning, September 6 of 2026.
"Today, Ventura Communications Center (VCC) received reports of a traffic crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck into a ravine, in the area of SR-33 at Casitas Vista Road.
CHP Ventura Officers and Ventura County Fire responded. The driver was safely extricated and transported with minor injuries.For reasons still under investigation the Tesla veered off the roadway, crashing into a vegetation embankment on the right shoulder. At the time of the crash, the roadway was wet.
With the rainy season coming up ahead, we remind you that wet roads reduce tire traction, limit vehicle control, and increase stopping distances. Slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, use your headlights, and avoid sudden braking, acceleration, or steering.

Inbound heatwave for Southern California (!) again. NWS Los Angeles:
"Spread the word to
prepare for yet another potential heat wave mid week""...Rapidly increasing heat concerns are the main story over land with
moderate to major heat risk and associated heat products becoming
likely for many areas, especially coastal valleys to coast by
Wednesday.The main player for the rapid changes is a ridge bulging in from
the east with 500 mb heights steadily increasing from mid 580s to
mid to upper 590s by Wednesday. Weak offshore flow from the north
and possibly east by Wednesday will delay and weaken the sea
breeze influence, allowing the significant heat to build towards
the coast. Widespread highs in the 90s (including near some
coasts) to low 100s will in its own right be hot. However the
potential for extreme humidity (for Southern California) from
incredibly high precipitable waters of 1.5-2 inches, well above
normal ocean temperatures, and even recent or upcoming rainfall
will make it MUCH more miserable outside and also keep temperature
the 70s and 80s well into the evening and even overnight for some
areas. This heat may feel comparable or even slightly worse to
recent heat waves, especially near the coast. Spread the word to
prepare for yet another potential heat wave mid week. Fortunately
