"The U.S. Space Force has approved the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the USSF-259 mission, Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, between 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. PT from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4).
A minimal possibility exists that residents of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may hear a sonic boom during the launch. Depending on weather and location, this event may sound like an abrupt crack of thunder according to prediction models."

VC Situation Update] Extreme Heat Event - August 24-28 2026

"A significant multi-day heat event expected to bring Extreme Heat to Ventura County Tuesday through Friday. Daytime temperatures are expected to soar over 100 degrees in many areas of the county beginning Tuesday, while nighttime temps will be staying near or above 80 degrees.
A Red Flag Warning has also been issued for the interior mountain areas and adjacent foothills of Ventura County from Tuesday through Friday due to the extreme heat and instability along with locally gusty winds and low humidities.
A list of cooling centers is available at VCEmergency.com.
The combined weather patterns and dry fuel conditions present increased fire risk. Therefore, Operational Area partners are prepared as follows..."

Opening a Family Justice Center here in Thousand Oaks is important and welcome news for the safety of residents here and throughout eastern Ventura County.
A Family Justice Center provides a safe space for the victims of domestic violence, elder and child abuse, human trafficking, and hate crimes. It not only provides safety but also saves victims from having to travel back and forth to Ventura multiple times to seek justice.
The City of Thousand Oaks is a proud partner with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office in establishing this first Family Justice Center in the east county.
I'm also grateful to California Lutheran University, which will host the center and for the work of the Ventura County Family Justice Center Foundation in supporting victims.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents is Job One in local government. While crime overall is down, domestic violence in particular remains a stubborn blight that persists across all socioeconomic lines.
This center helps address that. This helps make residents safer.

New copter of Camarillo is chasing mountain lions
"MOUNTAIN LION CAPTURED AFTER ROAMING CITY STREETS WEDNESDAY IN CAMARILLO:
A mountain lion was seen wandering city streets and residential areas early Tuesday afternoon in Camarillo.
