#HomeAssistant has a working #MeshCore integration that gives you all information you need.
If you do not have BLE available in HA for directly communicating with the node, you can accomplish that via USB if you flash the according variant of the MC companion.
And in addition, it is possible to connect the usb cable to a remote device (e.g., an #OpenWRT router in a different room) and use #USBip to make it available in HA.

With USB/IP, I can now use my YubiKey remotely via SSH in the same way as I was sitting in front of my machine. Both in early boot stage (initrd); unlocking LUKS encrypted filesystem, and in booted system stage; signing git commits and authenticate to GitHub. Great! But what about using FIDO2/WebAuthn via RDP to log in to web services? USB redirection is not supported for xrdp. Is there any workarounds coming up to for example redirect WebAuthn from one machine to another?

Usbip is so fucking jank. Even on linux where it's basicly native, heck it in the kernel.

If you want to connect a #USB device across a #TCP/IP network, you can use #usbip to make that happen.
There's a few moving parts and it doesn't support #hotplugging.
So I wrote a tool that takes care of this. It implements scripts for both the client and the server and uses native usbip under the hood, so all your other tools should continue to work as expected.

Looking into USBIP which is a kernel module for forwarding USB data over a TCP/IP network.
There are warnings that it doesn't play well in a WAN environment, because of latency.
I wonder though - I have a reasonably clean path from here to a data center. How little latency do I need to make it work enough to route an RTL-SDR tuner stick at full speed? I'm less than 20ms away.
