we played around a bit with some underglaze and carving. not entirely happy with the carving as it is a lot deeper than expected but the mudtools carving tools do cur really well.
underglaze will probably fire pretty translucent but we’ll see

The orchid pot has survived its first firing, with a bit of underglaze too. I really have to say underglaze on mishima and under sgraffito techniques are really scratching the illustrative itch I've been missing from regular glaze application...

When i started fooling around with underglazes today, i don't think i planned to end up with a pot covered in Kirby Dots, but here we are.
Whoops!
The original inspiration is actually a sun stressed succulent, so i am thinking of transparent tinted glaze over top.

These stoneware pieces are in the kiln now and I am beyond excited to see them on Monday and pop them right back in with some clear glaze and maybe some drippy colors along the lip. What do you think, internet people?
