In a new study from the #UndercoverEisAgenten project, volunteers mapped ice-wedge permafrost patterns in the Arctic using the open-source app MapSwipe.
Results show that citizen science can successfully contribute to climate research.

💡 Crowdmapping Power Poles in the Arctic💡

School students in Aklavik (Canada) helped us capture drone images of their village in the Arctic.
Ninth-grade students from Berlin then identified power poles with our #crowdmapping app MapSwipe (https://mapswipe.org/).
Part of Aklavik's critical infrastructure is now on #OpenStreetMap.

This is part of the #CitizenScience project #UndercoverEisAgenten (https://undercovereisagenten.org), which researches #permafrost thawing.
