*How a tiny Pacific Island became the global capital of cybercrime*
"What started as techies complaining to Vitale about spamming, malware, and phishing on .tk domains soon turned into more worrisome complaints from the New Zealand administrator tasked with overseeing Tokelau, asking him whether he was aware of who .tk’s users were."

I just found out that some instances on the fediverse, completely block the *.tk domains.
Silly reason being that they think Tokelau domains are free (they are not), so they are naturally used for abuse/spam (yeah, we noticed, lot of tk spam those days)
Well, let me tell you that free Tokelau domains, twenty years ago, were free meaning that you could have a simple “web redirect” to an home page you had somewhere else, like in your university, or geocities, or something like that. If you have the full control of a domain, even then and for sure now, it’s because you payed for. In fact i have it since 2003 and i payed until 2036.
I like my strange tk address, my email address is the same as my fediverse handle
