@TwShiloh bit off topic, this is also the point when #TexasGerman began it’s descent. It had been a flourishing dialect in TX up to that point, but WWI ushered in so much German xenophobia that the language was banned in public institutions. WWII really did it in, and native speakers are all elderly now. It’s expected to die out within 20 years :(
