I hate to say it but the Companies House website search is atrocious.
I would rather it returned no results rather than “useless and nothing to do with my query” results.

There's nothing quite like trying to configure your power company's tariffs on a Fronius solar inverter to make you feel stupid. They really need to make it usable by people other than electrical engineers or software developers. Luckily because I'm clairvoyant I just knew that "reference tariff" means what my power company charges for power, and "feed-in tariff" means what they pay for my excess solar. Obviously.

Today in #TerribleUX: hotel electronic locks.
Did you know that the electronic door locks on hotel doors are battery powered? And that if the battery dies, the hotel staff has no standard way to open the door? Instead they have to rely on improvised breaking-and-entering tools.
Because, of course, nobody would ever anticipate that a battery-powered lock might someday need a new battery.
