I have finished overhauling my trike. Well, "finished". I'm sure it also needs new tubes and tires, but I've taken care of the major stuff. And it looks and rides like new. I'm very happy with it.

So for New Year's Eve, my wife and I decided to break out our recumbent tandem tricycle because the weather was so nice here in central Texas. We ended up going for a 17 mile ride. As I mentioned yesterday, my wife and I went on a 20 mile bike ride. My wife is sighted and I'm blind so we have a tandem recumbent tricycle. She sits in the front and steers while I sit in the back and provide the power. Our tricycle is from Terratrike, and it's pretty awesome. Being a tricycle we don't have to worry about it tipping over and whereever we go we have our own seats, like when pulling up to some live music on the square. It isn't light though, so it's built for touring and not racing.

Yesterday, I really wanted to see how my hours on the Peloton would translate to our recumbent bike. I still think I'm lighter and in better shape, but cycling in my air conditioned loft isn't the same as cycling in a muggy 100 degrees. I really wilted in the 100 degree heat. I drank plenty of water and took every chance I could to soak my shirt in a sinc or a stream, but next time I'll be a little more circumspect when deciding on how far we'll cycle. #Terratrike #tandem #recumbent #tricycle
