Hurray!

Norwegian cops are investigating Telenor for crimes against humanity, related to the telecom company collaborating with the authoritarian military regime in Myanmar after the coup.

Among other things; Telenor continuously handed the regime live traffic data and other sensitive info of folks participating in the resistance fight for democracy. Many pro-democracy revolutionaries were jailed based on this info, and it likely also led to some revolutionaries being executed by the military regime.
Eventually Telenor sold its Myanmar operations (including customer data!) to a conglomerate linked to the military junta.

This investigation is about time!

#Telenor siktet for menneskerettighetsbrudd av #kripos og #pst

Kripos’ siktelse: utlevering av historiske trafikkdata om kunder til militærregimet, samtidig som regimet stod for omfattende overgrep mot deler av sivilbefolkningen.

PSTs siktelse: overtredelse av sanksjonslovgivningen, ved at salget av [Telenors datterselskap] inkluderte sanksjonert overvåkningsutstyr, uten at det forelå tillatelse til slikt salg fra Utenriksdepartementet.
