I världen finns ett antal trånga passager för sjötrafiken. Det handlar om smala sund såsom Öresund, Stora bält, Engelska kanalen, Gibraltar, Dardanellerna, Bosporen, Bab-el-Mandeb, Hormuz, Malackasundet, Sundasundet, Lomboksundet, Taiwansundet, Koreasundet, Floridasundet, Yucatankanalen, Windward Passage och Mona Passage men också om kanaler som Kielkanalen, Suezkanalen och Panamakanalen.

At the end of April the Danish port of #Grenå will lose its Kattegat ferry connection to the Swedish city #Halmstad. #Stena Line is ceasing operations on this vehicle-only service, citing reasons such as the concurrency due to the #Öresund bridge and the overall challenging economic environment. It points to its Frederikshavn - Göteborg service as alternative.

Until 2020 the Grenå ferry line went to Swedish Varberg but was changed to the port of Halmstad situated 70kms south due to Varberg city council plans of building housing in its Västerport district.

Without a doubt this will weaken Grenå's port, although it's geographic location made it only a second choice for Kattegat crossings anyway. The Århus light rail service to Grenå was of little use to foot passengers since Stena Line required a least a bicycle in order to use the ferry service.

Pretty good day!
Rode my #motorcycle #KTM #1290 #superadventure along the west coast (of south of #Sweden) and visited my old hometown of Lomma to enjoy the views of the harbour, the beach, sailors and Öresund.
Sun was shining, almost no wind, no clouds and generally great encounters.
In the evening I went with one of my brothers to my father's place as he wanted to gift us some of his collection of old camera equipment. He's a pretty cool cat.
Brother got a parking fine ...

A photo taken at #Helsingborg 🇸🇪 in spring 1985: this is the 14:25 international service, train number 464, with through cars from #Copenhagen 🇩🇰 to #Oslo 🇳🇴. They were transferred from #Helsingør by train ferry across the #Øresund #Öresund a few minutes earlier.
