Ultimately, I think we're at a point in space development that we need to start discussing acceptance criteria for launching from the Cape.
These heavy vehicles detonating on their pad have the potential of taking out neighbouring pads.
How is it that Blue doesn't have a separate test facility?

As the space enthusiast I am, I'm sad to see the #BlueOrigin explosion at the Cape last night.
I don't believe this is a launch blocker for Blue Moon Mark 1.
If this grounds Blue for a long period of time, Falcon Heavy could support this mission.
If the side boosters were expendable, Mk1 wouldn't need to spend its own propellant on TLI. Even if the boosters were to be recovered, FH has more than enough margin to get Mk1 to LEO.
aaaand it fits inside the FH fairings. Mk1 is 3x8m, FH fairings can fit 4.6x11m.
So don't rule out BO's Artemis goals. If Team Space can work together, it's still very possible Mk1 can still meet its NET.

I'm glad to see Jared "Rook" Issacman appointed as #NASA Administrator.
It might be the only good thing Trump has done.
I would have met Jared at the Astro Awards last January in Austin if he hadn't then been considered for NASA Administrator for the first time. But from what I learned from two of his crewmates on the Polaris Dawn mission, he's absolutely the right fit.
Cool to see that he's donating his salary to the US Space and Rocket Center Space Camp to help inspire future astronauts.

I haven't done a really nerdy space post in a while.
SpaceX Starship Booster 18 had a catastrophic failure last week during testing, and RGV Aerial Photography got a few shots of the aftermath. Engines weren't attached and fuel wasn't loaded... so it's unclear what caused this.
Regardless, the photography is breathtaking. The amount of engineering seen in these two photographs is insane.
There are usually 33 Raptor engines under this thing, and it takes all this plumbing to make those things spin and lift off what is equivalent to the height of CN Tower in Edmonton going to orbit.

Made new friends too. I feel like I'm going to be back down here next year for the #AstroAwards again. It was such a wholesome, happy event and no matter where you were, you made friends.
Tim has grown such a wonderful community of space enthusiasts and everyone is just #TeamSpace. It was really cool to be among IT and space professionals, YouTube creators, and others and just be able to ✨relate✨ .
One of the biggest things - everyone is just themselves, and incredibly kind.

@cosmos4u @AUROnline ich würde hier leicht wiedersprechen wollen, der Falcon9 Ansatz auch nur funktioniert, da mit Falcon 1 der letzte, vierte, Versuch geklappt hat, sonst gäbe es Spacex nicht mehr und deswegen betreiben sie F9 so wie sie es gerade tun. "The old way of doing" wie bei bei SLS/Orion bedeutete eben: 10 Jahre zu spät, mehrere Milliarden zu teuer, zu klein (laut Spec), nicht reusable, alte Space Shuttle(?) Triebwerke, die endlich sind, SRBs und alles. Ich bin ehrlich mehr als froh, das es SLS nun gibt, aber ich gehe davon aus, das wie NASA das Programm be- und gehandelt hat, spätestens mit der Einführung der Commercial Branch, das eigene Ende von SLS selber besiegelt hat.
Zum Thema Medien: Ich denke Menschen die nicht #TeamSpace Nerds sind, ist es schwer zu vermitteln warum eine explodierende Rakete eine gute ist, weil sie ja doch 8 Minuten geflogen ist. Hätte man einfach von 80% erfolgreich gesprochen wäre es weiterhin klar, das es nicht komplett war, aber meine güte, Hot Stage Sep, uiuiuiuiui das war beeindruckend.
