  4. Another tagpush.app service 😀

This new service seeks out posts with an #Iran hashtag from all over the #Fediverse and then boosts them to many servers. This helps distribute the posts much more widely, including to smaller servers.

To have your posts picked up by this service, simply use the #Iran hashtag in your post.

To receive the feed of boosted posts, follow the user ID shown at the top of this post. BTW, this #tagpush service also boosts #Gaza, #Palestine, #Cuba, and #Venezuela #hashtags, and you can follow them also, using the same process.

Please boost this post so that it gets around widely. 🙏

Many thanks to tagpush.app for providing this valuable service. 🙂 ❤️

  5. There's a new #Tagpush account to follow for #FedHire posts.

If you're in the market for a new role, follow @fedihire to ensure you see more of  the FediHire tagged posts across the fediverse, not just the ones your own server knows about.

  11. Six month ago today (17 July '25) I soft-launched #TagPush onto the fediverse. It's an idea I had smouldering in my head for a month or two. I saw two problems with #Hashtags on the Fediverse:

    • You can only find/follow hashtags, and posts of those tags, based on what your own server knows. If someone on another server posts with the tag, but your server doesn't get a copy, you will not see it.

    • Small servers suffer more due to lack of traffic.

The fundamental flaw (design) of the fediverse is that servers only see a subset of content.

Along came TagPush. Not rocket science by any means, by my one man attempt to automatically hoover up content from the fediverse, based on a tag. If you follow the TagpPush account for the tag you will then get the content pushed to you.

The tech behind it is simple. A #GoToSocial server manages the Fediverse comms for follows, boosts, etc. I have a python app doing the donkey work around the fediverse looking for content based on tags. It then boosts those out every 5 minutes or so.

Here we are, 185 days in, scooping up content for 48 hashtags and pushing them out to a total of 1,195 followers for tags. Amounting to 298,375 pushed posts (at the time of writing this). That's well in excess of quarter of a million posts. Wow!

Not bad for a simple idea.

    More details here: https://verbamea.com/4dd1a1ca55

Happy to add more tags to be pushed - as long as there is regular content.

  12. I thought it was time to start a #TiledWords TagPush account to scoop up all the posts and see how others are doing.

Follow @tiledwords to see posts from across the fediverse, not limited to the servers your own server knows about.

  13. My little #TagPush project, which I initially created for myself to seek out content across the fediverse based on a hashtag, is keeping busy since I launched it publicly 3 months ago.

It looks like this weekend will push the number of boosts to over 150k posts. 🥳

    More info here.

Why do we need this, why not just follow a hashtag?

I get asked this a lot. The answer is simple. The fediverse is distributed so there is no main server or collection of posts. When you follow a hashtag, your own server can only show posts which have landed on it. So if you are on a smaller server, you miss lots of posts. Tagpush tries to scoop them up across the fedi and boost them to your own server.

  14. "There's no central server for posts. When you search for a tag/click on it, you only see posts that your own server is aware of. TagPush aims to gather up posts from around the fediverse and get them to you."

This is the idea behind the "Tag Push" accounts: verbamea.com/4dd1a1ca55

  15. We're always looking for new HashTags to push around the fediverse.

If you're not sure what #TagPush is, or why you might need it, read About TagPush

It's a fantastic way to ensure you see a wide spread of posts for a hashtag you enjoy. Also great for smaller instances where traffic is low.

So far we've pushed 18k posts to a wider audience in just over two weeks.

  16. VerbaMea: About Tag Push . This is for Mastodon. “The concept is simple…. Follow any of the tag accounts, which corresponds to a hashtag, and you will get copies of posts as they appear around the fediverse, straight to your own timeline. We’re still testing, and growing. Look at the list below for the tags we are sniffing out and pushing onwards.”

  17. I did a soft launch of #TagPush one week ago, by adding some requested hashtags. Since then the bot has pushed 8285 posts for 23 tags, followed by 202 people. I think that is amazing for a little project I started for myself to scoop up tags and bring them to me.

HashTags are great, but you are only ever shown posts that your own server has a copy of. You could be missing some posts! Smaller instances will have very few. TagPush brings them to your server. Great for smaller instances, or single users servers. (#GoToSocial servers)

It also forced my hand to launch VerbaMea, which has been brewing in my head forever. I needed somewhere to publish random pages without the need for a full website or blog. Read more about VerbaMea

  18. TagPush

Lots of great hashtags starting to be pushed around the Fediverse, with some busy tags.

Top Tips for those following TagPush accounts.

    • You can Mute individual accounts if you are receiving too many posts from a particular user posting to the hashtag. There will be a mute option in your app for the profile you wish to silence.

    • Some tags can generate a lot of posts. Why not create a List; add the TagPush profile to the list, and set the list to hide those posts from your Home timeline. You can then read the list and all the posts at your leisure. Note: Only future posts will appear in the list, once created. Previous posts remain in the home timeline.

  19. I added five new tags to #TagPush this morning. More will be added later today as I monitor load.

  20. Hello Friends, Followers, and people I've yet to get to know.

I'm looking for some help testing my latest initiative!

We are probably all familiar with hashtags. They are used everywhere these days to group articles and help searching. The Fediverse also has the hashtag feature.

However, one of the major problems is that the fediverse is distributed, so there's no central server of all posts. When you click on/search for a hashtag, your own server only shows posts it knows about. This could be a very small subset of the actual posts. Not ideal, as tags are great for discovering new posts.

I've joined some dots, and polished some crystals, to develop a service that will try to gather up posts from the popular servers and distribute them to you. I can't possibly push all the tags, but it would be great to get the popular ones.

I've been following the introduction tag as a great way of being told about new people as they announce themselves.

Read more here. If you are interested in helping test 'TagPush', please follow some tag accounts, or suggest tags to be included. I'm not down with the cool-kidz so don't know what the popular tags are.

This is especially great if you are on a smaller server, or a single-user setup. Those on the huge servers (like mastodon.social and other such beasts) will find TagPush of little use.

    Thanks y'all.
