@hauschke @SemAntiKast Hmm, now I'm not sure what discussion you're referring to.
We've mainly tried LLMs for metadata extraction, not classification as such. I gave a talk about it at #SWIB24 with Pierre Beauguitte from Norway (and also a lightning talk at #SWIB23 ).
Code for the experiments can be found here: https://github.com/NatLibFi/FinGreyLit
Most experiments involve fine-tuning smallish LLMs. Haven't tried reasoning models yet.

There was an awesome talk by Shuai Wang at the #swib24 about Examining LGBTQ+-related concepts and their links in the #SemanticWeb . Shuai had to change his location via the presentation. It was terrific how simple the change of the location was done by Shuai.
You could find the discussion here: https://forum.swib.org/t/examining-lgbtq-related-concepts-and-their-links-in-the-semantic-web/130

Angestoßen von @nabatz hatten wir auf dem Metadaten-Barcamp im Rahmen der #swib24 eine kleine Diskussion ob und warum Linked Open Data in Bibliotheken im DACH-Raum etwas eingeschlafen ist. Was meint ihr? https://metadaten.community/t/linked-open-data-dach-bibliotheken-eingeschlafen/533

In the #swib24 live stream there just was a presentation about E-LAUTE which is an interesting project, in many aspects. What impressed me is the interdisciplinarity and that they are implementing the system based on #solid. The recordings will be made available later on. Questions can be posted in the SWIB forum at https://forum.swib.org/t/e-laute-establishing-a-music-edition-platform-using-semantic-web-technologies/126 #swib24

The problems with the 429 error messages in the SWIB forum should now be fixed so that day 2 of #SWIB24 promises to run much smoother, see https://forum.swib.org/t/429-too-many-requests/772

Our apologies for the hickups with the SWIB forum at https://forum.swib.org. We will fix this later today so that we should have an unimpaired experience from tomorrow onwards. #swib24

The forum seems to be constantly overloaded. Maybe the discussion could be led here until this is resolved?
I get "429 Too Many Requests" very often.

I just learned about https://www.wikifunctions.org/ from @vrandecic at #swib24. Quite nice in itself, but the way these functions could be used to support LLMs in becoming better factual answering machines is where it gets really interesting. Thanks for a great keynote!

In about twenty minutes Manuel and me will be presenting at #swib24 about the community-based development of a metadata profile for educational resources within @DiniAgKim and what we have learned in the process.
Join the SWIB24 live stream at https://swib.org/swib24 and read the description of the talk at https://forum.swib.org/t/community-based-development-of-a-metadata-profile-for-educational-resources/117 A recording will be uploaded later on.

@vrandecic :"Fixing wrong answers in Wikidata is easy. Fixing wrong answers in LLMs is near impossible". Interesting point. #swib24

Tuesday 26th Nov at 14:00 UTC (15:00 CET) I will present our work on LLM-based automated metadata extraction and bibliographic cataloguing together with Pierre Beauguitte from the National Library of Norway at the SWIB online conference.
"Automating metadata extraction and cataloguing: experiences from the National Libraries of Norway and Finland"
You can follow the livestream at https://swib.org/swib24/

"The media could not be loaded either because the server failed or the format is not supported."
"The media" is sadly the keynote to the #swib24 by @vrandecic

@swib Yes I have been really busy the past few months and I won't be able to attend any #swib24 talks this year (I will look at the available recordings though). Indeed, maybe next year but I need to correct a few things and then publish the thesis.
The question though is what could interest #swib25 attendees? I guess I would have to extract parts that could be interesting.
-
@julsraemy Congrats! It would have been great to have you talk about your dissertation topic at #swib24 but you probably already have enough on your plate. Maybe next year at #swib25?
