Inicjatywa Stop Killing Games oficjalnie przekroczyła próg wymagany do rozpatrzenia jej postulatów na forum Parlamentu Europejskiego. Po zakończeniu procesu zbierania podpisów i wstępnej weryfikacji okazało się, że akcja zgromadziła 1 294 188 ważnych podpisów!

The "stop destroying videogames" initiative has only 57.64% of the goal from Luxembourg. One of the few countries not over the 100% mark.

Despite being someone who at least used to consider themselves a gamer, and someone who's subscribed to Ross Scott's Accursed Farms YouTube channel, we were completely unaware of the Stop Killing Games campaign and petitions until today 😅🤦♀️
We only just learnt about it after watching a video by Bellular News entitled "Stop Killing Games Was Doomed. Now It Can't Be Stopped" 🎮
The EU poll ("Stop Destroying Videogames") has now reached the necessary 1 million signatures before its end date of 2025-07-31, but if you do live in the EU and haven't signed it yet, more signatures will give the petition a buffer in case any are invalidated 🇪🇺

Para que qualquer uma das assinaturas dos cidadãos portugueses sejam contadas para o número total de assinaturas é preciso pelo menos 14805 assinaturas de portugueses. Sem esses 14805, nenhuma delas conta, mesmo que haja 14804 assinaturas.

Se as obras (os #videojogos) são na prática destruídas, ou transformadas em algo inútil por deixar de ser software funcional, ataca-se os limites que os legisladores democraticamente definiram. É um ataque ao Direito de Autor como um todo porque destrói a tentativa de ele ser equilibrado, como é um ataque ao Estado de Direito tentando transformar o código-fonte na Lei, em vez de ser o código legal a Lei.

Não só esta destruição de obras é reminiscente da falta de respeito pela #cultura, como vai contra o espírito do #DireitoDeAutor, que concede aos autores apenas um monopólio temporário e limitado para entre outras coisas a exploração económica da obra, de forma a incentivar a existência de um ambiente propício à criação cultural.

Actualmente a grande industria de #videojogos após perder interesse económico em alguns videojogos torna tecnicamente e legalmente impossível aos jogadores continuarem a jogar esses videojogos, e também impede os trabalhos de preservação cultural histórica por arquivo digitais dessas obras enquanto software funcional.

A preservação dos videojogos enquanto peças de software funcional e memória cultural, e o respeito pelos direitos dos consumidores, estão sob ameaça e a maior parte da indústria de videojogos não quer fazer nada quanto a isso. Está na altura da política resolver o problema!
