  1. From a big exterior to a big interior. I LOVE a good ceiling, and this is one of the best. It's inside the Great Hall, and was renovated a few years back to the glory of its roots in the 1500s (I think) & they did a grand job. Also makes a lovely pattern.

  2. I love this so much. The expression of the lion on the left is PERFECT.

  3. There are animal statues on top of the great hall, with gold (painted) crowns. I like seeing them on a sunny day, as they glitter and shine.

My photo of one got photobombed by a surprise stray hand last time I was there (have never seen anyone up on the roof before, it's not open to the public AFAIK).

Autofocus can be most disconcerting at times 😆

  4. Stirling Castle, a historic Scottish fortress, is famed for its haunting tales, including the “Pink Lady” and “Green Lady.” These spectral stories enhance tourism and cultural engagement while intertwining history with folklore. #ghosts #stirlingcastle connectparanormal.net/2025/12/

  9. Wonderful night celebrating #Stirling900 at #StirlingCastle: music, poetry and good company, including being piped in with my fellow #Birlaw woman and men. Here's to the next 900 years as a royal burgh!

  10. This morning in Stirling, Scotland, I visited a graveyard (thankfully it wasn’t an eternal visit) and Stirling Castle. You can read about my enjoyable morning here: journeys.klebanoff.com/2024/09 (You’ll have to look elsewhere to learn about my unenjoyable mornings.)

We did not go to this location intending to photograph garden leaves, but sometimes opportunities just come up. This May we visited Stirling, Scotland for a few days. The plan was to spend time in a less-visited Scottish location — not just less known to tourists in general but specifically to us! We knew little about the town before visiting, but it turned out to be an enjoyable stop. I made the photograph at Stirling Castle, a site connected to a lot of history in Scotland and United Kingdom. It was a rainy day — this happens in Scotland! — and we found these water-sprinkled leaves in a lovely garden near the castle’s entrance…continues: gdanmitchell.com/2024/08/20/le

  13. On this day in history. King James II murdered the 8th Earl of Douglas in what is now the King's Old Building at Stirling Castle on 22 February 1452, 572 years ago today, after a meeting to discuss loyalties and allegiances went wrong. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/sti

  14. Stirling Castle seen from the west at night as it sits high on its volcanic rock, looking every bit as formidable as it does during the day. The castle's origins are unclear but the site was probably fortified from a very early date. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/sti
