@mpjgregoire @OpenMediaOrg Indeed. For that particular disaffected Liberal MP, our best bet would be to strongly recommend @avilewis reaches out, if he's not already. (I assume from @pluralistic having supported Avi's leadership bid that Lewis is on our side concerning privacy and surveillance. Care to confirm, Mr. Lewis?)
Poillievre is has too Trumpy a history and present of policy and rhetoric on #fossilFuels and the #climateCrisis to get anywhere with #StevenGuilbault, and while #GPCanada is most politically aligned on that topic, the Cat-Herding Party needs Dr. @kathhayhoe to teach them how to communicate to the public effectively, and a competent and accomplish organizational leader to get actual results.
<tangent>
Who'd be good to lead the Greens to actually accomplish something for once? Random names which come to mind, with no regard for recruitment plausibility, of organizational leaders who've helped get relevant results: Perry Bellegarde, Cindy Blackstock, or Sharleen Gale (effective Indigenous leaders); Bruce Poon Tip, Jeffrey Potvin (effective B-Corp leaders); Tim Gray, David Miller (effective nonprofit leaders); Valerie Chort (corporate wildcard); Catherine McKenna (an actual politician, for completeness).</tangent>If Steven Guilbault is open to crossing the floor rather than resigning from Parliament, I suggest the #NDP would be the only possible new political home for him (at least until and unless the Greens cease being the Cat-Herding Party). If he can be convinced of the necessity of #E2EE communications for organizing climate action, maybe he could be persuaded to help defeat #BillC22. What do you think?
Even if he won't cross the floor, if he's willing to break ranks, his one flipped vote on the bill would be indispensable.
