A few nights ago I picked up a guitar I hadn't touched in years, after learning that Glen Hansard had died.
What surprised me wasn't the rust. It was what wasn't rusty. My hands found chord shapes before my mind could tell me they were still there.
It made me think about a different kind of muscle memory, the kind leaders build over years without realizing it.
