#ABC reporting on #UK House of Commons Committee inquiry into #AUKUS leaves a lot to be desired for those with an interest in Australian #Submarine acquisition plans. I guess that is to be expected from a ‘public’ digital platform concentrating solely on headline grabs and short and superficial texts. For those more into the details there are other places to look at. But I don’t known how deep the #Fedi interest runs or whether it is anything more than politically motivated with a progressive agendum.
So this toot is what it is, superficial and eseentially not very informative (all in keeping with the #Labor fixation on #Secracy where #Defence posture and capabilities are concerned).

There has been numerous comments in the media about #Australia ‘s role in the sinking of an #Iranian frigate in the Indain Ocean by the #SSN #USS-Minnesota. While there is no denying that three #ADF members were aboard, there is no evidence that they acted in any way other than in accordance with their ‘Rules of Engagement’ (or Orders). This article wishes to cast doubt on this with the following argument:
”The Australians may not have been engaged in any ‘offensive conduct’ as part of the Minnesota attack, but no precise details have been given as to what role they played. What the author missed is that while all personnel aboard a submarine are critical in the running of the boat, there are three ‘watches’ on board and had ADF personnel been ‘on watch’ prior to engagment with the Iranian vessel, they could well have been relieved by US personnel from another watch prior to the dreadful (and potentially illegal) sinking of the ship and subsequent total disregard for the Conventions of War at Sea resulting in over 40 dead sailors of the allegedly unarmed vessel.
Just sayin’. Armchair generals ought not to be so specific in their arguments if these do not hold water (pardon the pun).

There’s all this talk on #msm and free to air tv about Australian #ADF personel posted to allied platforms, the #SSN responsible for the sinking of an allegedly unarmed #Iran navy vessel off Sri Lanka in partcular. Let’s be clear. All ADF personel on deployments have ‘rules of engagement’ which guide their actions in the event of confrontations. Moreover, as stated by the PM, bilateral defence arrangements also come with such rules for serving ADF personel that would prevent them engaging in #combat operations with their hosting nation unless authorised by the Australian govt.
Many journos do not undestand this and keep asking the same questions…

Con il SSN la salute diventava un diritto, non un privilegio. Prima di allora, (e ancora oggi in molti paesi del mondo) curarsi dipendeva dal lavoro, dal reddito, dalla fortuna.
Con il SSN lo Stato dice una cosa chiara: ogni persona conta, ogni vita ha valore.
Questa svolta porta il suo nome: Tina Anselmi.
È ministra della Sanità e prima donna a ricoprire questo incarico. Non è sola, ma il suo ruolo è decisivo. Anselmi crede nella sanità pubblica e la difende con fermezza, anche contro le opposizioni politiche ed economiche.
Grazie al SSN milioni di persone possono curarsi senza paura di non farcela.

Sometimes I still think back to the #2022 and that time the #governor #MikeParson was trying to #sue a #journalist for viewing the #html of an education #website and also was claiming the "damages" from that #hack was going to cost the #taxpayers 50 million to fix.
(Basically they fucked up and put the #SSN of #teachers in html source on a public website, encoded with #base64
