It's been awhile since I carved a spoon. Though the design is simple this is the best spoon I have ever carved. The symmetry is spot on and the walls of the inside of the bowl are even and free of tool marks. Up to now the bowls have always had some goofiness. The handle is also more slender than I typically make them and I angled the bowl of the spoon for a more ergonomic spooning action. You know, the way spoons are supposed to be made. My camping spoon. Made from the other half of the branch that the matcha spoon came from. I did not remove the pith but hollowed it out and filled the groove with epoxy.
"Never use the pith", they said. Well, no one tells me what to do. Not even me!
