Maybe we have passed this point, so what choices do we have?
Where else can so many states in, number, political persuasion, varied size, economic standing be seen talking together, trying to develop a better world?
The United Nations for all its shortcomings is the best hope we have as a global governance watchdog (apparently). Needless to say it needs major reforms & restructuring, not least ending the #veto & end present security council failures, they are undemocratic.
We need to experiment with democracy not put it in a box. It let's #civilsociety thrive & people grow.

Finished reading 'Politics Without Politicians' which discusses some practical real experiences with citizen assemblies and sortition based governance. I wasn't familiar with the French and Irish efforts to use citizen assemblies to craft laws and it was wonderful seeing the collective action process in more detail!

I don't need lobbyists; I need choice.
I don't need representation; I need a place.
I don't need to be told; I need to be heard.
I don't need divisive tribal politics.
What I need is a fully staffed, well trained, truly independent civil service, guided by peoples assemblies, guided by experience. We can have #Unityindiversity.
"I" can't speak for "others" but "we" can agree, if not we can have a dialogue, there is a way through this and many of the the 99% are experimenting with options. Others are waking up every day and joining the conversation. Many of them are taking action. I am grateful.

Serving as a Supreme Court justice should be like jury duty but for judges. None of this lifetime appointment business; trying to make a branch of government free of political influence is impossible. The best you can do is select candidates across as broad a population as possible with a selection standard that changes less often than the lifetimes of candidates. #sortition #lottocracy #demarchy

Representative Democracy is not working. They sell us out for power OVER us & serve the will of billionaires, patriarchy, & oppression.
Only one or two billionaires for politicians to please instead of the many thousands who voted for them, or the life & earth that sustains it all.
They always end up stealing money, power, human rights, & freedom from The People. Only a few outliers willing to represent the people. Enough for hope. Never enough for change.Time to talk #sortition #democracy
