    La ONU aprueba plan de ayuda alimentaria para Cuba hasta 2030 por más de 116 millones de dólares

    La Junta Ejecutiva del Programa Mundial de Alimentos (PMA) de las Naciones Unidas aprobó el nuevo Plan Estratégico para Cuba 2026-2030, que contempla un presupuesto de 116,4 millones de dólares para fortalecer la seguridad alimentaria, la nutrición y la resiliencia de los sistemas alimentarios del país.

    El programa, que estará vigente entre el 1 de julio de 2026 y el 31 de diciembre de 2030, garantizará la continuidad de la cooperación del organismo de Naciones Unidas con Cuba en áreas prioritarias como la atención a personas en situación de vulnerabilidad, el fortalecimiento de la producción local de alimentos y la respuesta ante emergencias y fenómenos meteorológicos extremos.

    Tras conocerse la decisión, el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, calificó la aprobación como una importante victoria diplomática. En un mensaje publicado en la red social X, afirmó que, pese a las «ingentes y espurias presiones» ejercidas por Estados Unidos, la Junta Ejecutiva del PMA aprobó el programa que permitirá mantener la cooperación con Cuba durante el próximo quinquenio.

    El canciller sostuvo además que Washington quedó aislado durante las deliberaciones del órgano ejecutivo del PMA y consideró que la decisión representa una «contundente victoria de Cuba» frente a los intentos de obstaculizar la continuidad de esa cooperación internacional.

    El documento oficial aprobado por el PMA señala que Cuba enfrenta importantes desafíos para garantizar la seguridad alimentaria de su población, debido a la elevada dependencia de las importaciones de alimentos, las limitaciones financieras, el impacto creciente de los eventos climáticos extremos y otras restricciones que afectan la disponibilidad de recursos para la producción y adquisición de alimentos.

    La estrategia del organismo prioriza el apoyo a grupos vulnerables, entre ellos mujeres embarazadas, madres lactantes, niños, adultos mayores y comunidades afectadas por desastres naturales. Asimismo, contempla el fortalecimiento de las capacidades nacionales para desarrollar sistemas alimentarios más resilientes y sostenibles.

    La aprobación del nuevo Plan Estratégico reafirma la continuidad de la cooperación entre el Programa Mundial de Alimentos y Cuba en un contexto marcado por las dificultades económicas que enfrenta el país y por la permanencia del bloqueo económico, comercial y financiero impuesto por Estados Unidos, señalado reiteradamente por las autoridades cubanas como el principal obstáculo para el desarrollo nacional y para garantizar el acceso a alimentos, insumos y financiamiento.
