In recent days, #Cuban civil society organizations have denounced the devastating impact of the #US government’s economic war on the Cuban people.
Dr. Dayana Couto Núñez, president of the Cuban Society of #Gynecology and #Obstetrics, says shortages of medicines, medical supplies, technology and fuel are affecting surgeries, ultrasounds, diagnostic tests and maternal care.
According to Couto, the situation is making it harder to detect congenital malformations early and to care for premature and low-birth-weight babies, who often require specialized medication and high-tech equipment.
“Neither our women nor our children are to blame,” she said. “They need #medical care, #medicines and quality resources.”

Feb. 14, 2026An alliance of progressive advocacy groups announced on Thursday their intention to organize a humanitarian aid flotilla – named the #NuestraAméricaFlotilla – to #Cuba next month amidst increased economic pressure on the island by the #US.
Major groups participating in the flotilla include #ProgressiveInternational, an international left-wing activist organization, and #CodePink, a female-led grassroots peace and social justice group.
The flotilla’s mission has been endorsed by a variety of leading international figures, such as Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila, member of Colombia’s Chamber of Representatives María Fernanda Carrascal and US Congresswoman #RashidaTlaib.
Prominent left-wing American streamer Hasan Piker has confirmed his participation in the project.
