Ich empfehlen #Netcup bei vielen Gelegenheiten, weil die VPS-Produkte einfach unschlagbar sind. Aber beim Webhosting ist es wirklich ein Trauerspiel, gerade in Bezug auf veraltete Software-Versionen. Beim Webhosting bietet man #Nodejs Support, aber nur in v21, die längst EOL ist. Und auch die verwendeten #SOGo-Versionen sind hoffnungslos veraltet.

Set about installing #listmonk today.

Listmonk uses #PostgreSQL as its back-end. My self-hosted #SOGo instance was running on #MariaDB. So first I should migrate that to PgSQL so I only have to backup and maintain one database instead of two.

That was half the day gone.

Tried out #SOGo instead of snappymail and now I have a calendar/contact server again alongside my email. Very nice. I wanted to use mailcow, but the memory requirements are too high for my server

Ooof, finally resolved issue with #sogo #activesync that was bugging me since at least July.
At some point Outlook at one department stopped syncing emails and calendars. Logs reported "Cache cleanup needed for user X", but cache cleanup didn't help.
In the end it was 1 event in shared calendar, it had & symbol in the name, which was properly escaped in description field of XML sync message, but not in ServerID field, which caused failure with parsing the message and go out of sync with client

Ich habe früher diverse Kalenderabos für Sportveranstaltungen gehabt. So wurden mir die Ereignisse im Kalender angezeigt.
Mit meinem @doncow und #SoGo müsste ich auf jedem Gerät jeden Kalender einzeln importieren. Das ist mir zu umständlich.
Funktioniert das sauber in Nextcloud? Also ich abonniere in NC alle Kalender und ziehe mir dann nur den NC Kalender aufs Handy via CalDav oder so.

Anybody having issues getting #Evolution to authenticate with #Mailcow/ #Sogo on the back-end? I'm using #AppPasswords. Was using one password for everything but now I've split things up and am trying an app password for IMAP/ EAS/ Sieve, CalDAV/ CardDAV, and SMTP seperately to see if things are more stable. But I'm getting sick and tired of having to re-authenticate to Mailcow it seems pretty much every single day.

@blog As an old IT geek that started in this game long before the modern internet (I had an email address in the 1980s when all it could do was talk to UK or US universities or the military via JANET or DARPANET etc.over UUCP) I have been increasingly depressed at how big US tech has worked so hard at killing off the original,, open, standardised, federrated design principles of the web and sucking everyone into their closed silos.

Email is one of the original protocols in use and is still federated in theory but nearly everyone iis forced onto Google or Microsoft as there are few good alternatives.

I have hosted own email (plus calendar and contacts) for 25 years now. Not too tricky if you are IT savvy... but...

My stack (all open source):

Opensuse Linux
Postfix email server
MariaDB database
Dovecot IMAP server
Apache web server
Amavis anti-spam/anti-virus
Spamassasin spam filters
SOGo groupware

Plus good secure DNS with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and reverse-ip for the server.

Give it a go!

Andere Anbieter setzen daher auf das kostenfreie #SOGo, zB bei der Mailcow/Servercow.

Well, for whatever reason #Outlook has stopped working with #Mailcow/ #Sogo so I've had to ditch Outlook on my phone and install #BlueMail instead. On the plus side, setup was a breeze.
