Het 'Pluismeer' is a forest pond near Lage Vuursche, a small village and nature reserve in the province Utrecht in The Netherlands.
It was a cloudy autumday when I was hiking with my cousins when I took this picture.
I tried to capture the misty, gloomy atmosphere that was in the reference photo.
On this hot, mid summer june day it's hard to imagine that it can be this dark and gloomy outside..

I've never drawn the same picture twice, but this week’s #PortraitChallenge became an exception.
Picture 1: new sketchbook anxiety. I spent ages trying to get the proportions right, then got too scared to continue with colour.
Picture 2: started over, worried less about proportions and focused on colour. I disliked it and kept adding more art supplies. Extremely mixed media 😅

Weekend painting!
Once a month I come together with #creative people to be.... creative.
Yesterday we had such a meeting and I made this #painting resembling an autumn tree. Other people were knitting or doing other creative things.It is always 'gezellig' as we say in dutch!

This one is based on the #sketch I made of the tree on a cliff.
I felt like I wanted to try something different, to make it a harmonious, soft and light looking piece, with different colours than the natural ones I use most of the time.
Also I used #Canson mi-teintes paper instead of the course #U-art 500 that I use often, to amplify the soft and #atmospheric feel.

Last two weeks I've been working on this painting thatnis approx. 30 x 45 cm. It was sunny the morning that I took the picture, brightening up the leafs in amazing autumnal colors!
Things I've learned from painting this one: Blurring edges in the distance more effectively
To not have strong value contrasts in the peripheral areas of the painting.
Maybe I failed at the left tree regarding the second point. It doesn't bother me too much though. -
