@urlyman we're already way past the point where we can have a #SoftLanding. We can no longer avoid at least billions of excess deaths caused by #ClimateEmergency.

We definitely face at least hundreds of years when we have substantially less energy in the form of electricity or fuels than we have now, less transport than we have now (air travel is almost certainly completely out), and less food than we have now.

US retail sales data, and a firm floor in the recent market dip, feels to me like pretty good indicators of that desirable, wished-for #softLanding coming out of the inflation crisis.

Also a good place to reiterate that the inflation crisis was a smallish recovery blip following COVID-related supply-chain disruptions made twice as bad by corporate profiteering and dysfunctional monopolies in Western economies.
