How on earth is this sort of thing legal? This is simply a slum. It's ironic because I believe houses such as this were used as such from the early 1800s to mid 20th century. This is just neo-colonialism. Creation of slums needs to be banned.

Scumlords, Slumlords.... you decide.
Utter pieces of shit who want to extort rent from the vulnerable and sidestep planning laws.
Hotel owner tried to claim that rooms it was letting out were 'flat's because they had a microwave, fridge, kettle, and bathroom.
So far they've wasted thousands of taxpayer money by challenging the council and losing twice, and are continuing to appeal.
All because they don't want the extra scrutiny and cost by registering as a HMO.

Schon vor Jahrzehnten, als ich noch in Göttingen lebte, gehörte dieses Gebäude (neben dem Iduna Zentrum) zu den schlimmsten Wohnbunkern in Göttingen.
Es ist unfassbar, dass sowas Jahrzehnte möglich ist, solche katastrophalen Wohnbedingungen aufrechtzuerhalten.

Why do landlords, who canonically are rich bastards, always pick the cheapest fixtures like faucets?
It would literally save them money if they picked metal fixtures that last decades instead of plastic mix shitbits that decay in a couple of years.
Sincerely: Renter sick of everything breaking down.
(First it was toilet button....twice. Had to have hand shower swapped when it busted. Our shower fixtures are literally chipping off, and now our faucet is dying.)

Maybe the worst example of DisasterCapitalism involves paying #rentseeker #slumlords and #propertyDevelopers millions to use their deserted, #highriseHellholes as #hotelQuarantine (or glorified #prisons).
And we're sure at some point these people will be put to work to click on #advertising soon to get free #quarantine. We could call it #reeducationHotels or #concentrationHotels.
