#NowPlaying this damn excellent new LP from last month, 'Porcelain Shield, Paper Sword' by Mary Sue, a rapper from Singapore (a dude). And he's backed up here by the Clementi Sound Appreciation Club (a five-piece band of jazz musicians from the local scene in Singapore). This is a lush, dense, textured and amazing rap record with Southeast Asian samples and Taoist folklore all over it. Great lyrics too - conscious and solid. A must hear for fans of rap (or jazz?) and another contender this year.
