Last Sunday, second day of the #vierdaagsefeesten and #ValkhofFestival, we saw Mary Sue perform at the Valkhof Festival. First time in Europe, all the way from Singapore. And he was pretty good, although I have to admit it's often a bit weird to watch a mostly empty stage with a small table with mixer and one person performing.
Playing several songs from his Porcelain Shield, Paper Sword album amid other songs.
Go see him if you can, although I have no clue about the rest of a possible tour, locations, dates, etc. Possibly posted on other social media that I'm not on.
Having dragged a suitcase full of vinyl our way from Singapore, I decided to lighten the cargo by buying the record that I had had my eyes on for a while. 1/50 limited grey smoke European tour edition. Woop woop. ;)

Just finished reading *A Princess of Mars* by Edgar Rice Burroughs, written more than a century ago. John Carter is a transparent #MarySue. He is at all times superior to every other character, save perhaps the titular princess. So many times he escapes because he just happens to remember something someone else told him (that they shouldn't know anyway is immaterial). I'm so happy writing has improved since then.

If modern works sell less than the past it's due what I call #Brandkillers works on them: first they wrote #fanfictions, never took a step up and they pour it into serious works, especially serialized sagas by previous serious authors. The power is rewrite an existing character, protagonist especially, and change into one's own avatar, making author/character link stronger, due they're inept of make but repropose what they are and if they're #MarySue alé! A bad escapism type with good reasons
