I've been going back to this one, although (as many know) I'm not usually super into black metal. I just find this one DAMN great. Dynamics, different rhythms and drum patterns.. fantastic. (Check out the wild stuff in track 3!) It just came out Jan 1.

This week's #ThursDeath is Scotland's CAUSTIC PHLEGM-- a one man metal project I've been enjoying IMMENSELY these last couple weeks. It has tape hiss, synths, jankiness that I dig, and ODSM-inspired grossness. There's a Caustic Phlegm demo out this year too with other songs, but this is their (his) full length debut LP, 'Purulent Apocalypse'. And its sound really lives up to its name. Grody growling, slimy riffs, and pounding, crushing drums. HUGE contender for me this year.

#NowPlaying for some energy, the new 'Cold Drinks, Cool Snacks' tape by Apéro. They have members from both Hamburg, Germany and Senas, France. This is some fast, synthy, super catchy egg punk that's not to be missed. FFO Beer, Gee Tee, etc. Big contender this year. Solid. Songs about Neil Young, The Rock, and hating billionaires. How could you go wrong.

It's #MusicWomenWednesday again, and I suppose it's time to mention this LP I've been enjoying since April. This will NOT be for everyone. This is a VERY intense, deathy, grindy debut LP from Chile's CADAVERIC RESIN, which indeed has a female vocalist and drum programmer - she goes by Raniit4. This is some grody, nasty stuff. I love when women make metal like this.
