Who has been to Westercon? Is it fun? I think I probably will not be going across the country for Readercon this year (which makes me very sad), so I'm trying to find more ways to meet writers in person on the west side of the country (US).

The thing about writing is how devastatingly lonely it is.
I've spent thirteen years trying to find a writing group after my MFA program ended. I finally found one. They're all good writers, most of them are also MFA graduates. They _love_ my realistic fiction. They seriously don't understand my speculative fiction. And that's what I want to write. That's what I'm going to write. So where can I go from here? (Genuinely asking.)
