Check out Luc Steels’ "Talking Heads", Pierre-Yves Oudeyer’s "Aux sources de la parole" for an exciting take on #intelligence. Robotics at #Google X was all about that. As machines get better at learning, it’s good to try again!

as far as biology can tell, aging is best understood, #philosophically at least, as part of a #developmental continuum between #embryogenesis & death, which is pre-programmed somehow. therefore, we cannot in principle place precise "boundaries" or "cutoffs" between development, adulthood, and seniority. In strict #biological terms, they are all part of one continuous #program. a complete explanation of aging therefore requires complete #devbio knowledge

CW: Opinion regarding predators
I think maybe #pschopaths and other #predators are innate #mathematicians of #socialrisk and #socialcontrol.
They learn at some #developmental stage that they can #hurt or #abuse people and get away with it through #language and other modalities of #lying.
The #power excites them or comforts them somehow and so they repeat. They can’t stop because their #evil success is #addicting to them.
Or that’s been my observation.

I wish #doctors #websites would stop using those stupid #signature boxes where you need to use the mouse to sign your name. I’m #left-handed but I use a #right-handed #mouse (that’s how I was taught) and it’s a real pain in the ass to try to sign my name with the mouse. I just had to sign like that about 15 times for a #developmental #pediatrician. You’d think they’d know better. Just let me type in my damned name, for fuck sake. I have zero patience for this stuff. #autism #adhd

Paper #4 by Mosberger et al. cites Pacheco et al. (2019) re idea that individuals use diff strategies to reach same #developmental endpoint/goal.
Gottlieb (1997, 2005) raised the profile of this principle (equifinality) though Hans Driesch’s original idea was almost a century old.
cf Thelen&Smith (2007) re diff pathways human infants take learning to reach; broad comparative similarities with Mosberger et al.; individ diffs and equifinality.
