Good Morning #Canada
At some point in the next 2 days I have to visit #ServiceCanada and renew my passport. Did you know that 70% of Canadians own a passport which puts us in the upper middle worldwide when compared to other countries. "Ownership" is technically incorrect as all Canadian passports legally remain the property of the Crown and must be returned upon request. According to the Henley Global Passport Index, Canada is among the top countries in Passport Power, ranked 8th on the global mobility spectrum. Trust in the nation issuing the document and in its citizens helps place a country in the rankings. I wonder why recently the USA dropped out of the top 10 for the 1st time? Canada is a member of the Five Nations Passport Group, an international forum for cooperation and sharing of best practices between the passport issuing authorities of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA.#CanadaIsAwesome #Travel

I had a #passport appointment today, and got a lil bit worried when I saw the 50+ people seated in the Passport Services waiting area, and/or queuing for pre-screening.
As it turns out, you get punted to the front of the pre-screening line with an appt when the time comes, and then they give you a priority number, and I was outta there in 30 minutes. 🤯
Meanwhile I overheard folks in the seating area complaining how long everything was taking.
My advice: make an appointment 😬

Service Canada can leave you on hold for an unpredictable length of time. But, with diabolical timing, an agent always seems to answer right when I need to use the washroom.
And no, I won't do my business and talk at the same time...I worked inbound customer service for a major bank when I was in University, and heard quite enough of that, thanks. Their jobs are bad enough. lol.

So nothing is working right today. I can't even sign in to #ServiceCanada that has the most convoluted sign-in process ever invented by web developers.

#ServiceCanada has two "Apply for a CPP death benefit" links on the same page. One of these starts the application process, one of these redirects to a page with information about the CPP death benefit (logging out in the process). That page links back to the first one.
Why do government web sites have to be terrible?
